First of all, the songs we’ll be reviewing here are of south asian interest, Indian, Pakistani, Bollywood kinda stuff! (Sorry if you were looking for something else).
The site was born out of an avid interest in music from the region, and its recognition. Most of the songs from the region are somewhat related to movies, i.e. Bollywood. And so sometimes, the music gets deeply associated with the movies, which in my opinion, is a bad thing. Because then, if the movie sinks, so does the music. Many music directors that I know of are very scared of putting their heart and soul into creating a song that is wasted because of a bad movie, or a bad situation.
Once Shankar, Ehsaan & Loy commented on a show (Ranvir, Vinay aur Kaun?) that in earlier days of their career, they composed a music for a suposedly romantic comedy, so they put all their creativity to create a soft romantic ballad - when the movie came out, it turned out to be a soft porn. So they rue till the day that their song was wasted!
Apart from writing reviews of some great musical creations of our time, I would make an extra effort to engage the editing team to write reviews of the songs, which may not get its due recognition, for whatever reason.
